As a medical student, she was one of the first class of interns at the nation’s only Naturopathic Cardiac clinic, a research assistant to the science director of Health Notes, and provided medical care at free clinics for the needy and homeless. She has extensive clinical experience, having worked at multiple clinics throughout the Midwest and at her main clinic, Edgewater Natural Family Medicine, in Saint Cloud and Alexandria. She is experienced in pain management, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, Naturopathic Medicine, Functional Medicine, diet and nutrition, metabolic disease, chronic disease, lifestyle modification, healthy weight loss and Lyme disease. Dr. Aberle is a member of the Minnesota Association of Naturopathic Physicians (MnANP), the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM), and is Minnesota’s first Registered Naturopathic Doctor. In 2016 Dr. Aberle completed training to become an Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) Certified Practitioner and has started the process to become a certified practitioner through the Klinghardt Academy for Autonomic Response Testing (ART). My Experience with chronic tick borne, insect borne infections (also known as Lyme) Doctors formal education does not prepare them to properly treat the multiple infections that many Lyme patients experience. In my early professional career, I lament the insect borne infection cases I did not address well due to this lack of education in medical school. A pattern I have noticed in my journey as a doctor is that patients needs drive my training pursuits. A long time ago, a struggling patient compelled me to bring myself up to speed on insect borne infections. Reading, study, seminars and practice (of medicine) helped me to identify patients that could be infected with Borrelia and other coinfections. Early on, I referred these patients to more experienced Lyme literate practitioners. I learned a great deal by conferring with the Lyme literate doctors and co-treating some of these patients and I am grateful for this mentorship. But many of the more experienced practitioners had wait lists for 3 months to 1 year. Because of the lengthy wait lists – I supported my patients until their visits with the Lyme doctor. There were times the patients were experiencing noticeable improvements even before the Lyme literate doctor could see them. The other patients had received naturopathic and functional support for months and were really good responders to the prescriptive plans from the referring doctors. Many of the referring doctors gave me the feed back that patients that I referred and prepared were in much better places then the average referral. I always want all my chronic infection patients to respond well and I sought a method or system to improve outcomes. In 2016 I began to take classes though the Klinghardt Academy and Dr. Klinghardt who is one of the most sought after Lyme doctors internationally. Since 2017 I have been using Dr Klinghardt’s Autonomic Response Testing (ART) for a select group of my chronic infection patients. I suggest the testing for any patient that is sensitive to treatments – so we can pick the options less likely to cause issues. I have also found that ART allows for a level of diagnosis and targeted treatment that is like supercharging patient outcomes. As I move forward, my goal with all my patients is to help them move forward on their path to wellness with dignity, grace, speed, and success. I am grateful to the lessons from all of my mentors which includes each of my patients. Any good Doctor will tell you that that they learn from every patient they serve and I appreciate all that I learn from chronic infection patients and try to serve them well.

After four years of practice, he began physician assistant school at the University of North Dakota, and graduated in 2012, summa cum laude. Since then, he has practiced for six years in chronic pain management and urgent care.

Tim has always been interested in treating more than just symptoms, and in helping patients take control of their overall health. He believes that health is much more than just the absence of disease. He first entered the world of Lyme disease when his wife was diagnosed with Lyme in 2012. Seeing her struggles opened up his mind to a different world of medicine than what is traditionally taught in school. Two of his three children have also been diagnosed with Lyme. His compassion for his family and commitment to help them overcome this disease has translated naturally into a desire to help all who suffer.

Tim has trained in the treatment of Lyme with Dr. Laurie Radovsky and Dr. Steven Harris and plans to complete an ILADS preceptorship in early 2020.
